Haus der Astronomie is a Center for Astronomy Education and Outreach,
which resides in a custom galaxy-shaped building in the hills above
Heidelberg, Germany. It was founded by the Max Planck Society and the
Klaus Tschira Foundation in 2009, with the University of Heidelberg and
the City of Heidelberg as additional partners. Haus der Astronomie
(literally “House of Astronomy”) fosters scientific exchange, outreach
to the general public, and outreach to schools and kindergardens. Since
2019, Haus der Astronomie also hosts the Office of Astronomy for
Education of the International Astronomical Union.
